Hey Traders,
Let me ask you something…
Have you ever been certain a stock was about to move — but not entirely sure which way?
That’s not a trick question. It happens all the time.
A company’s about to report earnings.
The Fed’s about to speak.
Some big headline’s about to drop.
You know a move is coming — but up or down? That’s the part that leaves most people frozen.
Some folks get paralyzed and do nothing. Others try to guess, and guess wrong.
But me? I quit trying to pick sides a long time ago.
Because I realized… you don’t need to pick a direction to get paid.
When Volatility Scares Most Traders Off…
The word “volatility” scares people. They hear it and think “danger,” “uncertainty,” “risk.”
And yeah — sometimes that’s true. Especially if you’re trying to predict every little move and outsmart the market.
But volatility also means opportunity.
You just have to use the right strategy to take advantage of it.
That’s Where Beta Comes In
Beta is a simple number that tells you how much a stock moves compared to the overall market.
The market itself has a beta of 1. So if a stock has a beta of 2? It moves twice as volatile as the broad market.
Tesla’s beta? Through the roof.
It’s one of the most volatile, liquid, high-beta names on the board — and that makes it prime real estate for options sellers like me.
Strategy Selection Is King
Here’s what I’ve learned over the years:
It’s not about picking the perfect stock. It’s about picking the right strategy for the environment you’re in.
I use a simple system that looks for a 1–2% move in either direction over a 10-day window.
If Tesla moves — up or down — that trade triggers and closes automatically.
I don’t babysit it. I don’t need to be glued to a chart.
And I don’t care if it goes up or down… just that it moves.
And when it does? I get paid.
The Big Idea
You don’t have to run from volatility. You just need to know how to use it.
And in this market — when premiums are high and beta is on your side — that edge can make all the difference.
