Hey Traders,
It’s Thursday, and I have to say, the market’s giving us a real rollercoaster ride.
Whether it’s the Dow Jones, NASDAQ, Russell, or S&P 500, everything looks much weaker than it appears on the surface.
And don’t even get me started on volatility — it’s through the roof by any measurement you use.
The Current State of the Market
Just yesterday, we saw stocks soaring, only to watch them tumble again today.
It’s a mixed bag out there, and let’s face it, the economy is starting to show some cracks.
That’s not just my opinion; it’s a fact. Jerome Powell has backed himself into a corner with interest rates — whether to cut or not — and the news is only getting stranger.
Consider this: Bill Ackman just pulled the IPO of his $2 billion Pershing Capital fund.
That’s a closed-end fund with fantastic potential, but investors just weren’t excited.
What does that tell you? It spells bad news for the IPO market going forward.
What’s Fueling the Fear?
Investors are jittery and, frankly, scared. They’re looking at Alphabet’s (GOOG) spending on AI and bailing because they don’t see immediate returns.
The lack of good earnings reports and guidance isn’t helping either. All this adds up to a market that’s more than ready to fall apart.
I’m not trying to sound like I’m overreacting, but I smell downside ahead.
Now, this doesn’t mean there won’t be great trades.
But it does mean you have to be savvy and ready for a potential downward draft.
The Bottom Line
The market is incredibly unpredictable right now, but with volatility comes opportunity, especially for options sellers like us.
Remember this article I shared with you a week ago. And this one I put together just yesterday.
There’s tons of opportunity out there if you know how to trade.
And remember: If you’re still getting started with trading, you can practice till the cows come home with paper trading.
Stay sharp, keep your eyes open, and be prepared for anything.
Trade well,
Jack Carter
P.S. Markets like this make me glad I have the vast majority of my funds in a solid dividend portfolio that works for me 24×7.
It’s a truly “set and forget” strategy where I buy my stocks and simply sit back as I collect dividends quarter after quater. Want to see the Golden Rules I used to put my portfolio together? Get them — completely FREE — right here!
