Hey traders,
You’ve heard it before: Options are dangerous.
People say it all the time, don’t they?
But I’m here to tell you… they’re wrong.
Options aren’t dangerous. They’re just a tool.
And just like any tool, if you don’t know how to use it, sure — you can hurt yourself. But with a little bit of know-how, you can avoid almost all the trouble that sends other traders running for the hills.
Let me put it this way…
Would you hand a chainsaw to a small child? Or to someone who had never used one before without giving them a few pointers?
Of course not. You’d make sure they had the basics down so they don’t hurt themselves or someone else.
See, there’s a safe way to use a chainsaw, and if you’re going to fire one up, you better know the safety tips.
Probably one of the most important is always cut below waist height. You don’t want to be swinging that thing over your head where you have no control.
And just like that, there’s a critical rule for options.
For me, it’s this: SELL options.
Why?
Because selling options puts the odds in your favor. It’s that simple.
When you’re a seller, you don’t have to be right about the market’s direction or make perfect timing moves. You’ve got room to be wrong, and you can still win the trade.
I’m not saying you’ll win every trade. No one does.
But here’s the deal — trading is a zero-sum game. If the statistics are right, somewhere between 80% and 95% of options buyers are losing their trades.
And you know what that means?
Somewhere between 80% and 95% of options sellers are winning their trades.
If you ask me, that’s a no-brainer. You want to be on the side of the trade where the odds are stacked in your favor.
That’s why I sell options, and it’s how I’ve stayed in the game all these years.
So next time someone tells you that options are dangerous, just remember — it’s not the tool that’s dangerous. It’s how people use it.
Learn how to sell options the right way, and you’ll be miles ahead of the people chasing home runs with risky options buys.
Trade well,
Jack Carter
P.S. Geof Smith knows what I’m talking about. He’s built up a stunning track record selling options on oil. See what I’m talking about right here.
